eTwinning Plus

Welcome for neighbouring countries!

Being a meeting point for all teachers involved in European education, the European eTwinning platform www.etwinning.net provides these educators with project ideas, advice and assistance to work with fellow professionals and with their students across Europe in a safe online environment. eTwinning has indeed set in motion unvanquishable forces towards more, and better, collaboration. It is currently bringing teachers and pupils together across Europe – more and more schools are participating, more and more fascinating projects are being developed, and new kinds of interaction among teachers are coming forth. Imagine an even greater reach, beyond the borders of Europe – what an increase in cultural appreciation this can lead to!

Do more than belong

A few days ago I was overjoyed to find out that schools from Ukraine, Tunisia, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, through the project called eTwinning Plus, are currently being invited to participate in eTwinning projects, in order to be part of this endeavour, with the clear objectives of school networking, development of pedagogical partnerships, innovative cooperation and improvements in teachers’ training and knowledge especially through the exchange of best practices.

Pioneering commitment

The teachers in these 6 countries who will be part of eTwinning Plus starting the 4th of March 2013 will be innovative ‘explorers’. They will undoubtedly aim to promote the intercultural communicative competence by developing skills of discovery, interpreting, relating and interaction, boost critical cultural awareness and prepare students for encountering otherness.

Moldova’s teachers and students

Being a Romanian, I cannot help but express my satisfaction and pride of having another people who speaks my mother tongue join the eTwinning community. The teachers in Moldova who want to start their eTwinning Plus adventure need to register using the information here.

Coming aboard

I am confident that the pupils and teachers in these countries – by becoming part of this educational league that is eTwinning, which involves the most enthusiastic minds in Europe nowadays – will soon feel at home here, and I mean eTwinning with all its significances, starting with the concept, and moving through the tools and the learning environment to reach its spectacular dynamics and richness, and then even going beyond.

Good luck on this journey!

Daniela.

    Daniela,

I am glad these 6 newcomers have joined in a project.
I think Europe is wider than eTwinning, especially if we regard immigration as a means of mobility in and to the continent. As a matter of fact, the expansion of eTwinning to these countries is a very good idea and I know it has been a project for over a year ,at least it was mentioned at the Limassol PDW for eTwinning ambassadors in autumn 2011.

      Dear Michael,
Thank you very much for reading and for commenting!
I am confident the implementation and promotion of this ‘electronic partnership’ (eTwinning) of schools and promotion of teachers’ training in these countries will be – as it has been in all other eTwinning countries so far – about change and innovation, about integrating ICT as a tool for learning and exchange, about improving mutual understanding across Europe and beyond Europe now, about citizenship ultimately, which we energetically need in this day and age.
      Daniela.
